Moon Rituals
MIT PSG is now hosting monthly New Moon Rituals.
- New Moon: 12/11/09, 8 pm.
- New Moon: 11/16/09, 8 pm. The tarot card for this ritual was the Magician.
In October of 2007 the PSG followed the moon through one full cycle. Morgan led the rituals. There were four rituals, one for each phase:
- New Moon: 10/11/07, 7pm. The hidden face of the moon, this part of the lunar cycle is often represented by the goddess Hecate. This phase is a time of new beginnings and rest. The focus of our ritual will be Seeds of Change.
If you are planning on attending the New Moon Ritual, please start thinking along these lines:
What is something I want to change in my life?
What is something I want to change about myself?
Is there within me a potential I have not yet realized? Do I want to explore that?
What change do I want to see in the world around me?
Please bring with you to the ritual a small object that you feel relates to these questions, or a small charm you would like to use, or the answers to one or more of the above questions written on a small piece of paper and folded up. This will be your 'seed' and will be charged in the ritual.
- Waxing Moon: 10/19/07/0, 6pm. The growing moon is usually associated with the Goddess in her Maiden aspect. The waxing moon is when we will focus on increase and gain. Tonight's ritual will be The Flowering Moon.
- Full Moon: 10/26/07, 6pm. Many pagans consider the full moon to be the most powerful phase, and so hold circles and work their craft on nights of a full moon. The round glowing moon is a symbol of the pregnant Mother Goddess. Our ritual will be Fruits of Our Labors.
- Waning Moon: 11/2/07, 7pm. As the moon dwindles into darkness, the Goddess's aspect of the Crone emerges. The waning moon is a time for banishing, for ridding yourself of unwanted things, for letting go of harmful things. With this in mind, our waning moon ritual will be Burning the Weeds.

The moon rituals in 2007 were held in the PSG Office, room 50-318 in Walker Memorial. The office can be found by going to the back entrance to the test room on the third floor and turning left - we're between the chocolate science and strategic games offices. All are, of course, welcome!
